The album 'The Flame' by Tauranga band Bonjour Swing was produced in 2012 by Fragile Colours Music, an independent record label based in the sunny Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

Bonjour Swing have great pleasure in letting you know about ‘The Flame’, Marion Arts and Robbie Lavën’s tenth album.  With their son Oscar Lavën on saxes, clarinet & trumpet and young gun Milan Wilshier on double bass, the CD contains fifteen original songs and instrumentals by Marion and a petite waltz by Robbie, written and performed in the mood and style of the Parisian Gypsy Jazz scene of the thirties.

The instrumentation - two acoustic Django Reinhardt style guitars, double bass and reeds/trumpet – and a live-in-the-studio recording approach brings the excitement and romance of the French Jazz era right into your lounge.

The tracks vary from waltzes to blues, haunting exotica to sweet thirties dance band sounds to the irresistible driving Gypsy ‘pompe’ rhythms.

Marion’s insightful and sometimes humorous lyrics cross seamlessly between English and French, which, together with her easy vocals and Oscar’s lush jazz tones and phrases, adds a touch of nostalgia to the vibrant and flamboyant Gypsy Jazz improvisations.

‘The Flame’ was recorded and engineered by Tim Julian at Colour Field Recording Studio, Welcome Bay, Tauranga and can be ordered by contacting Bonjour Swing at or Tim Julian at
