Local History Week in Tauranga ran from 26 September to 2 October 2016. This was a special week as it also celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Nga Wahi Rangahau Research Collections, the past names of which has included: The New Zealand Room, The Archives and Local History Section and The Sladden Library.

Local History Exhibition - This ran all week in the Nga Wahi Rangahou Research Collections Room. Displayed were various objects pertaining to the history of the archives.

War Archives Talk by Stephanie Smith - On Thursday 29 September archivist Stephanie Smith gave a talk on war archives held by Research Collections.
Mission Cemetery Tour by Stephanie Smith - On Saturday 1 October archivist Stephanie Smith gave a tour of the Mission Cemetery.
Brain Watkins House Open Day - On Sunday 2 October free guided tours were given of the Brain Watkins House at 233 Cameron Road (corner Elizabeth St & Cameron Rd) in Tauranga as part of Local History Week.
