Baptised in St Mary's Church in Sandwich, Kent, in 1761, Margaret was my fifth great grandmother - Debbie McCauley (2013).

Margaret was baptised  at St Mary's Church in Sandwich, Kent, on 17 February 1761. Her parents were William and Mary Corne (nee Hodgman). William was born in Deal, Kent, in c1728. Mary Hodgman was baptised in St Laurence, Thanet, Kent, on 1 August 1726.

Margaret married William Culley at East Farleigh in Kent, on 7 April 1792. William was born in c1761.

The children of Margaret and William Culley:

  1. Ann Culley (1794-?). Born in Otham, Kent, in 1794.
  2. Uriah Culley (1796-?). Born at Lenham, Kent, in 1796. Uriah married Charlotte Godding in Thurnham, Kent, on 18 October 1814. Both Uriah and Charlotte had criminal records for stealing with Charlotte sentenced to 3 months hard labour in 1840 (Maidstone Gaol Records) and Uriah sentenced for Larceny in 1816, 1824, 1834, 1835 and 1839.
  3. Elizabeth Culley (c1798-?). Born in Kent in c1798.
  4. Priscilla Culley (1800-?). Born in East Farleigh in 1800.
  5. Charlotte Culley (1802-?). Born in Bearsted in 1802.
  6. Margaret Culley (1804-1810). Born in 1804. She died in Bearsted in 1810.
  7. Sarah Culley (1806-1880). Baptised in Bearstead, Kent, England, on 12 October 1806. On 23 November 1823 Sarah married bricklayer Edward Hart in Thurnham, Kent, England. According to Frances Moss, Edward was convicted for theft of food and sentenced to a prison hulk. The Hart family arrived in Wellington, New Zealand, aboard the Tyneon 9 August 1841. Sarah died in Wellington, aged 74, on 12 March 1880 (reg. 1880/5042). She was buried in Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington, on 15 March 1880 (Plot: 127.R).
  8. Matilda Culley (1814-?). Born in Thurnham in 1814.

Margaret died in 1834. She was buried in Thurnham, Kent, on 23 February 1834.

William died at Hollingbonme Union House, aged 93, in 1854. He was buried on 20 May 1854.
