A fact sheet on the The Strand

Many of Tauranga's earliest commercial buildings were erected along The Strand and some still exist today. Land was reclaimed along the waterfront for construction of the railway in the early 1900s which ran alongside Tauranga's coastline. The Strand has been re-developed in recent years and is now lined mostly with cafes and bars.
