The Diary of Arnold Henfrey Watson (1918). Pongakawa farmer Arnold Watson had always been interested in drawing, painting and natural history. During World War I he was with the 19th Mounted Reinforcements before being drafted into the 15th NZ Company of the Imperial Camel Corps, where he remained until it was disbanded in mid-1918. The Corps distinguished itself in the Sinai and Palestine campaigns by helping to protect the Suez Canal from the Ottoman Empire. Arnold's diary is richly illustrated with his observations.
