Topic: The Wonky Donkey

Topic type:

In September 2010 Craig Smith, author of the hugely successful 'Wonky Donkey' children's picture book, visited Tauranga and entertained large crowds at Baycourt.

Craig Smith wrote an absolutely hilarious song which has been transformed into a fantastic children's book by illustrator Katz Cowley.

The Wonky Donkey

Throughout the story we learn new things about our donkey until we reach the end with a spunky, hanky-panky cranky stinky dinky lanky honky-tonky winky wonky donkey, a mouthful for adults reading aloud! The song won an APRA Silver Scroll Award in 2008 for Best Children's Song of the Year.

The Wonky Donkey in Tauranga, September 2010

The children's librarians at the Tauranga City Library organised for Craig to visit Tauranga as part of his promotional tour. It was decided that the space at the Tauranga Library would not be large enough and so the event was transferred to Baycourt where a large crowd attended more than one session.
