William Findlay Turner served in the Army during the Second World War. He was my husband's first cousin, twice removed - Debbie McCauley.

William Findlay Turner was born on 14 June 1922 at Newcastle upon Tyne. His parents were William and Margaret Annabella Turner (nee Findlay). On 15 April 1944 he married Lilian Hadley at St James Church, Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne. Lilian was born at Newcastle upon Tyne on 4 April 1924. 

William was employed as an engineer at Armstrong-Vickers, Scotswood, Newcastle upon Tyne and later became a lecturer in engineering at Hebburn Technical College, South Tyneside. Lilian was employed as a shop assistant at the Co-operative Society, Newgate Street, Newcastle upon Tyne (her future brother-in-law, Thomas Henry Walker, was her boss).

William served in the Army during World War II. The couple did not have any children. They resided in the Gosforth area of Newcastle upon Tyne for most of their married life.

William died at Newcastle upon Tyne on 30 May 1997.
