William Edward Burcher was a Pilot Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II. He was killed on 7 January 1945 over the North Sea, Atlantic Ocean, during a flying battle. William was my second cousin twice removed - Debbie McCauley.

William Edward Burcher was the son of Edward Arthur and Florence Emma Irene Burcher (nee Smith), of Mosman, New South Wales, Australia.

During World War II he served as a Pilot Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force.

William was killed during a flying battle over the North Sea, Atlantic Ocean, on 7 January 1945.

He is remembered on the Runnymead Memorial in Surrey, United Kingdom.

William is listed on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.
