George Fisher Stephenson was born in Coromandel on 3 November 1890. His parents were George and Mary Stephenson.
He worked as a school teacher at Mount Maunganui Primary School.
He enlisted on 27 October 1914 and served with the Auckland Infantry Regiment, 6th Company, 1st Battalion (Service No. 12/1511). His last recorded rank was Lance Corporal.
He was killed in action at Belguim on 26 July 1917, aged 26.
George is remembered on the Anzac War Memorial Cenotaph at Mount Maunganui.
