George Rangitikei Rewa was born on Motiti Island on 2 July 1892. His parents were Hori Rangitikei and Te Aurere Riritaki. 

He worked as a labourer.

He enlisted on 14 November 1914 and served with B Company, 1st Maori Contingent (Service No. 16/115). His last rank was Private.

He was killed in action on 31 August 1916 in France, aged 24.
