William Charles Leslie Reeve was born in Tauranga on 28 January 1896. His parents were Edwin and Ellen Reeve.

He was a farmer at Tauranga and was also a 4th Waikato Territorial.

He enlisted on 1 May 1916 and served with the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, 4th Battalion (Service No. 31095). His last rank was Rifleman.

He was killed in action in France on 7 June 1917, aged 21.
