

Johnnie Moko Mokopapaki served with the Maori Pioneer Battalion. He is believed to have died in 1921 from wounds he received in France whilst serving in World War I.
Johnnie Moko Mokopapaki was born in Tauranga on 5 January 1893. He was the son of Moko Papaki and Tetahi Moko from Maketu.
He was a farmer. He was from Ngati Pukenga.
He enlisted on 30 December 1916 and served with the Maori Pioneer Battalion (Service No. 19601). He is believed to have died in 1921 from wounds he received in France. As well as being on the Tauranga Memorial (under Mokopapaki) he is listed on the Rotorua Great War Memorial.
