Ohauiti farmer William Howard Swindley Masefield died of head and abdomen wounds in London on 14 July 1916. His older brother was killed the same year.

William Howard Swindley Masefield was born in Auckland on 8 February 1895. His parents were William and Annie Masefield.

He was a farmer at Ohauiti, Tauranga.

He enlisted on 16 November 1915 with the Auckland Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion (Service No. 12/4054). His last rank was private.

He died of head and abdomen wounds in London on 14 July 1916. He was aged 21.

William's older brother, Keith Howard Masefield was killed in action at the Somme, France on 3 October 1916.
