Te Puna farmer Thomas Leslie Lochhead was killed in action in France on 26 August 1918.

Thomas Leslie Lochhead was born in Dunsandel in Canterbury on 2 October 1890. His parents were Thomas and Elizabeth who later moved to a farm in Te Puna, Tauranga.

Thomas farmed at Te Puna. He was a member of the Tauranga Agricultural Association, played Football and the Bag Pipes.

He enlisted in Trentham on 26 July 1916 in the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, A Company, 2nd Battalion (Service No. 32019).

His rank at the time of his death was Lance-Corporal. He was killed in action in France on 26 August 1918, aged 27.
