White cross for William Leslie Charles Reeve (1896-1917).

Caption

Tauranga farmer and 4th Waikato Territorial William Leslie Charles Reeve was killed in action in Belgium on 7 June 1917, the first day of the Battle of Messines. He is remembered on his brothers headstone in Tauranga Anglican Cemetery. In 2014 Tauranga's 'Field of Remembrance' was created comprising 107 white crosses in memory of the men from the Tauranga area who died during World War I (1914-1918). Each cross carries a red poppy and the name of an individual who died. Text and photograph © Debbie McCauley (2014).
