White cross for Thomas Patrick Cullen (1885-1917).


Private Thomas Patrick Cullen received a gunshot wound to his abdomen whilst fighting in World War I. He died of his wounds at the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station in France on 5 February 1917. In 2014 Tauranga's 'Field of Remembrance' was created comprising 107 white crosses in memory of the men from the Tauranga area who died during World War I (1914-1918). Each cross carries a red poppy and the name of an individual who died. Text and photograph © Debbie McCauley (2014).
