Caption

Ohauiti farmer William Howard Swindley Masefield died of head and abdomen wounds in France on 14 July 1916. His older brother Keith was killed at the Somme three months later. In 2014 Tauranga's 'Field of Remembrance' was created comprising 107 white crosses in memory of the men from the Tauranga area who died during World War I (1914-1918).
