Caption

Tauranga farmer George Frederick Samuel Davis was killed in action in Belgium on 3 January 1918 at the age of 25. He was buried in the Divisional Cemetery, Leper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. In 2014 Tauranga's 'Field of Remembrance' was created comprising 107 white crosses in memory of the men from the Tauranga area who died during World War I (1914-1918). Each cross carries a red poppy and the name of an individual who died. Text and photograph © Debbie McCauley (2014).
