White cross for George Wickham Crosley (1894-1915).

George Crosley was only 21 when he was killed in action during the battle of Chunuk Bair on 6 August 1915. In 2014 Tauranga's 'Field of Remembrance' was created comprising 107 white crosses in memory of the men from the Tauranga area who died during World War I (1914-1918). Each cross carries a red poppy and the name of an individual who died. Text and photograph © Debbie McCauley (2014).
