Scanned newspaper fragment of Trooper Arthur Whyte (11/449), who served in the First World War as a Trooper in the Wellington Mounted Rifles.

He was single at the time, a farmer and the son of George Whyte of Taranaki. He fought at Gallipoli, was injured in May and again in August of 1915 at Chunuk Bair (gunshot wound, right foot and ankle). He won the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal, the Victory Medal.
