Evyleen Richmal Hornridge Gledstanes was born in Twickehnam, Kings County, in 1872. Her parents were Mary and Robert Gledstanes.

She arrived in Lyttelton, New Zealand, with her widowed mother, Mary, and other family members on the 'Northern Monarch' on 1 February 1879. The ship was placed into quarantine, due to cases of measles on board. Later in February they arrived in Tauranga.

She married George Charles Waudby Morris in 1896 (reg. 1896/4059). He was the son of Captain George Bentham Morris (1839-1903).

Their wedding was reported in the Bay of Plenty Times on 25 March 1896:

A quiet wedding, which excited a good deal of interest in the eastern suburbs, eventuated at St. Mary’s pro cathedral at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday last, the contracting couple being Miss Evyleen Richmal Gledstanes and Mr G C W Morris, of the firm of Morris and Edwards, mining agents, and son of Captain Morris, M.L.C. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr C.M.S. Gledstanes, and wore a stylish and tasteful travelling gown of brown material; the bodice was relieved with blue and finished with large and handsome buttons, dainty little hat to match. She was attended by her niece, Miss Edith Gledstanes, who acted as bridesmaid, and who also wore a tasteful costume. Mr Phil. B. Morris, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Curzon Siggers. After the wedding breakfast, when the newly-wedded couple were showered with congratulations, they departed to spend their honey-moon at Waiwera.

There were three children:

  1. Elizabeth Morris (1897-1963). Born in Auckland in 1897 (reg. 1897/14346). She died in Auckland in 1963 and was cremated at Waikumete Cemetery.
  2. George Nigel Gledstanes Morris (1901-1981). Born in Auckland in 1901 (reg. 1901/16542). He married Constance Mabel Russell in 1928. He died in Auckland in 1981 and was cremated at Purewa Cemetery.
  3. Ethne Morris (1903-1974). Born in Auckland in 1903 (reg. 1903/17054). She married James Stanton in Sydney, NSW, Australia, in 1939. Ethne died in Auckland in 1974 and was cremated at Purewa Cemetery.
