Arthur William Fisher was born on 23 September 1852 in Gibralter. His parents were Arthur A'Court Fisher and Caroline Fisher (nee Eden).

On 21 August 1925 Arthur Fisher wrote:

'As on my mother's side I am a member of the Eden family a few words of mine may be of interest. The Lord Auckland from whom Auckland was named was the first and only Earl, he having for family reasons declined the remainder offered to him in favour of his brother, who was a clergyman, and became in succession Bishop of Sodor and Man and Bishop of Bath and Wells. The Eden Barony is a double one of England and Nova Scotia. A former baronet was Govenor of Maryland and had a Novia Scotia Baronetcy conferred on him. The baronies of Auckland and Henley created about 1801, were conferred ontwo brothers. Lord Henley adopted the surname of Henley, as having married Lady Caroline Henley, daughter and heiress of the last Earl of Northwood. The City of Auckland has adopted the crest, a hand holding a wheat sheaf, of the Eden family, with its world motto, Si sit prudential. The family has held up its noble traditions, three uncles of the late Sir William Eden having attained the highest rank in the Navy, Army and Church - Admiral Sir Charles Eden KCB, General Morton Eden and the Bishop of Moray, Ross and Caithness, Primus of the Episcopal Church in Scotland of whom my mother was a daughter'.

Arthur was allocated land at Athenree near Katikati. He returned home in May 1879 as his father died on 2 November 1879. Arthur returned to New Zealand on board the Lady Jocelyn in 1881.

After several years in Katikati, Arthur moved to Rotorua due to ill-health.

Arthur died in Auckland, aged 73, on 20 June 1927 (reg. 1927/2950). He was buried at Waikumete Cemetery.
