Addeen Emma Goss was born in 1867 in Barnstaple, Devonshire, England. She arrived in New Zealand aboard the Carisbrooke Castle in 1875 with her parents and five siblings.
Addeen married Edward George Hornridge Gledstanes in Katikati on 29 September 1885 (reg. 1885/2659). The wedding was reported in the Bay of Plenty Times:
GLEDSTANES-GOSS On September 29, at Clovelly, Katikati, by the Rev Thomas Farley, Edward George, fourth son of the late R Hornridge Gledstanes Esq JP Twickenham, Bally-cumber, Kings County, Ireland to Addeen Emma, second daughter of S Goss Esq, Clovelly, Katikati. - Mary Gledstanes (1886-1967). Born at Levley in Katikati in 1886. She married Hugh Ronald Atkinson in 1909. Mary died in Tauranga in 1964 and was buried in Katikati Cemetery.
- Phoebe Kathleen Gledstanes (1888-1967). Born at Levley in Katikati in 1888. She married John Henry Wilkins in 1918. Phoebe died in Auckland in 1967 and was cremated at Purewa Cemetery.
- Helen Gledstanes (1891-1966). Born at Katikati in 1891. Helen died in Auckland in 1966 and was cremated at Purewa Cemetery.
- Dorothea Kate Gledstanes (1893-1973). Born at Katikati in 1893. She married Hastings D'Oyly Snow in 1927. Dorothea died in Auckland in 1973 and was buried in the Birkenhead-Glenfield Cemetery.
