Edward and Addeen Gledstanes and children (1900).

Caption

Edward George Hornidge Gledstanes was born in Dublin, Kings County, Ireland in 1860. He arrived in New Zealand in 1879 on board the Northern Monarch. In 1885 he married Addeen Emma Goss in Katikati and they had four children together. He became a J.P., and a member of the Tauranga County Council and Katikati Road Board. The Gledstanes home, Levley, was situated on the banks of the Uretara River. Addeen died in Katikati in 1938 and was buried at Katikati Cemetery. Edward died in Katikati in 1945. The couple are photographed here with their children, Phoebe, Mary, Helen and Dorothy.
