Topic type:

Jean Bennett is the author of 29 books, including children's and teaching resources, non-fiction, short stories, poetry, and journalism. Many of her books have been published in the United States for the educational market, including series for National Geographic. Her writing for both adults and children has been broadcast on National Radio.

Jean’s love of language began with listening to her Scottish father telling stories around the fireside in their Invercargill home. Weekly visits to the library with her mother instilled a life-long passion for reading.

This fascination with words influenced her adult working life as a proof-reader, journalist, editor, writer for adults and young people, and qualified librarian. Jean and family moved to Tauranga in 1979.
