Light My Heart by Elizabeth Robinson

20 years ago, Elizabeth was told by music industry professionals that she would never make it in the industry – she wasn’t ‘commercially viable’. That didn’t put her off singing though, and through a series of chance meetings and contacts, she met Jeff Murphy, an award winning screen writer from Wales.  Work began at The Colour Field Recording Studio, with Tim Julian assisting with production and arrangements.  Within a few takes of the first track, ‘A Price to Pay’ it became evident that there was a bit of magic happening.  With a couple more songs recorded, and the magic persisting, the three decided to put this album together.

Putting aside time from making wedding cakes for friends, and her work at a manufacturing company in Mount Maunganui, Elizabeth threw herself into recording the original songs, eight of Jeff’s and one penned by herself.  Drawing on some amazing musical talent in the Tauranga area, the final result is a beautiful album of diverse styles and sounds.

From the opening shivers of ‘A Price to Pay’, you are taken on a Journey through personal baptism (‘Cool Rain’), forgiveness (My Arm’s Will Always Be Open’), despair (‘Hope’), freedom (‘Hey Hey Hey’) to the optimistic idealism of ‘Lullaby’.

These songs are travelling the world, being listened to by some industry heavyweights as Jeff meets with people in UK, New York and Montreal.  Two of the songs are involved in film work, as pieces within scripts that Jeff has in pre-production.

Songs intended as video singles are ‘My Arms Will Always Be Open’, ‘Hey Hey Hey’, ‘A Price to Pay’ and Jeff’s company, Garage Light Films is looking into making an animated film to work with ‘Lullaby’.
