Located down stream from the site of the final Nambassa Festival in 1981, the Valley has a rich history of culture. There are many parallels between Sundaise and the iconic Nambassa festival. Sundaise hails back to that traditional Kiwi feel, a festival without the boundaries of commercial interest.
Festival Director Rachael Stanway says, "Sundaise is carefully crafted to ensure that the festival is full of diversity, colour, expression and offer chances for people to discover art, music and culture”.
Sundaise will also be decorated in colourful installations, impromptu performers, displays and projections featuring local artists: The Incubator and Lipika Sen.
Have a break from the crowd by attending any the free Workshops running through the day, take a dip in the fresh water river or join your young’uns in the exciting Kids Zone with dramatised story-telling, puppetry, workshops and face painting. No need for bars with expensive drinks as its hosted on private land and the event is glass free, BYO with lots of delicious healthy food stalls.
