Te Urunga, the shelter for the waka Te Awanui, carved from a 300-year-old kauri tree by master carver Tuti Tukaokao in 1972. The shelter was opened in 1975, on the site of the Tauranga Harbour Board office. Photograph: Timespanner (2011, reproduced here with permission).
