It filled an enormous need for classroom space within the school. It was available, cheap, but only just fitted the Ministry of Education’s requirements for maintenance of buildings over 65 square metres. It measures 70 square metres in total.

The deck linking Ngongotaha to the Pentagon classrooms was built in 2007 and also acts as a cloak-bay. This has always been a cold building due to a lack of insulation, so was fitted with a heat pump just prior to winter 2008 when it housed Class 3 taught by Jade Olsen.
