Topic: Greerton Village Events (2012)
Key events in Greerton VIllage in 2012 were IlluminArt, Garden & Arts Festival and a Christmas Variety Show.
On July the 13th the Greerton Village Square was transformed into a vibrant display of light forms, celebrating the artistic talents in and around our local community.
Highlights included a shadow puppet show, fire performers from Hamilton Fire bugs, a fairy light tunnel, static lantern display courtesy of the Papamoa Lantern Festival and U.V. light dance party.
Music from the Addictive DJ’s set the tone for the evening whilst performances from Tauranga Samba added to the magic of the fire show with their vibrant Brazilian percussion.
Even the weather played its part putting on a mild winter evening as throngs of families enjoyed the spectacle.

Greerton Village joins the Garden and Arts Festival programme
The Garden & Arts Fest has expanded to include young gardeners, with Greerton schools and shops getting right into the spirit of growing plants, as well as young minds.
The festival is a great opportunity for the community to foster an enthusiasm and love of growing and art in the local children. On November 8th the village is holding a Plant Boot Sale and a scarecrow making competition, which looks set to unleash artistic talent in the young gardeners.
Local school children at Greerton Village School have been working hard, cultivating plants for the Plant Boot Sale, With thanks to the support from Dalton’s, who have donated the necessary equipment and expert advice to get the kids underway.
The children are growing plants from seeds, carefully selected for their growing ability in tough conditions. The kids will be growing them into seedlings to sell at the Plant Boot Sale in on the 8th, in the Greerton Village Square and proceeds will go back to each school. The plants will be ready to go straight into gardens.
Greerton shops are also supporting the festival event, by sponsoring each of the scarecrows. These masterpieces of youthful creativity will be displayed in the sponsor shop window, and shoppers will be able to vote on their favourites.
