Topic type:

Despite the rain on 29 April 2014, hundreds turned out for a dawn service to mark the 150th commemoration of the Battle of Gate Pā at Pukehinahina. Eight newly carved pou were unveiled and blessed, followed by the raising of flags to symbolise reconciliation between Māori and Pākehā. These photographs were taken by Tania Lewis-Rickard and are reproduced here with her permission.
