Tauranga Naval New Zealand Wars memorial (1964)

This two metre high concrete cross was erected in 1964 and commemorates the 10 seamen and marines killed at Gate Pā. The inscription reads ‘This cross was erected in 1964 to replace the original wooden cross faithfully maintained for 100 years by the officers and men of the Royal Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy.’
