Battles of Gate Pā/Te Ranga Art Competition (2014) - School Division

Sponsored by Te Tuinga Whānau Support Services Trust

Free Entry! Create artwork inspired by the Battles of Gate Pā/Te Ranga. Entries will be chosen for display at St. George's Anglican Church Hall at Pukehinahina/Gate Pā from 21 April to 3 May 2014. Plus, there are prizes for each category:

Murals $200

Senior Secondary (years 11-13) $200

Junior Secondary (years 9-10) $200

Intermediate (years 7-8) $200

Primary (years 1-6) $50

This would make a great classroom activity. It would be ideal if Teacher’s could choose the best artwork from their class and the school enter a maximum of ten artworks to represent their students. Artworks can be on paper, canvas, board, photography or harakeke no larger than 100cm x 100cm. Sculptures, constructions and whakairo are limited to a 100cm x 100cm base. If canvas or board the artist must have attachments points on the back so the artwork is ready for hanging.

  • Prizes are subject to change. Keep checking this website for updates.
  • Please drop your labelled entry and fill in an entry form from 9.30am to 12.30pm at St. George's Anglican Church Hall, 1 Church Street, Gate Pa on 17 April 2014.

Murals: Schools have the option to create a mural for entry into the competition. Large customwood sheets (4mm thick, 2.4m x 1200) are available at no cost for those who would like to enter the mural section. This would be a fantastic gift for the school and wider community. Please contact Dave Harper at the Men's Shed (Historic Village, 17th Avenue, Tauranga) on 027 471 5133 for more information or to arrange pick-up.
